The Caffeys Inlet Life-Saving Station was established in 1874.  The “1874-Type” building was used until it was replaced in 1897 by a “Quonochontaug-Type” building.  The station remained in operation until 1964 when the Coast Guard decommissioned it.

Today, the station is now part of the Sanderling Resort.  The building houses a restaurant for the guests of the resort as well as the general public.  The restaurant is furnished with memorabilia from the days of the Life-Saving Service and the Coast Guard.  For visiting information, contact The Sanderling Resort.

The original water cistern still remains in good condition and is located just in front of the building.
